About Sonia Mocnik

Sonia Mocnik Sonia Mocnik is inspired by her surroundings; from cityscapes to the great outdoors. Vancouver born, she has always enjoyed creating art. She paints with the colours that move her from an urban scene to natures blooms. The energy of each captured moment comes back through brushing watercolour onto paper. Blooms become larger, chairs become vibrant, and people add a sense of mystery. Sonia is self-taught and has furthered her skills through art instruction with the Federation of Canadian Artists Foundations Program, as well as other art workshops in Canada and in Mexico. Plein Air and urban sketching are some of her favorite activities. She has won awards at the Harmony Arts Festival, Gibsons Plein Air, Semiahmoo Art Center Paint the Town, as well as Paint Out Ajijic in Mexico. Her Studio is shared with other artists at Portside Studios, 150 McLean Drive, Vancouver, B.C. She is an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and a member in the following organizations; Hycroft Painters, the International Watercolour Society of Canada, the West Vancouver Community Arts Council, North Van Arts Council, Northwest Watercolour Society and the Richmond Art Coalition. She instructs watercolour classes through the West Vancouver Community Center, the Roundhouse Community Center and other venues. Sonia’s work can be found in private collections throughout Canada and internationally.
